I've almost done a straight cover of this song a dozen times over the last few years. I love it to death, and consider it one of the most perfect recordings in the history of modern music.

In light of which, doing a short-work mucked up parody instead is a curious decision. Hopefully the melodic parts are nice and the cacaphonous parts are suitable frightening—it's all just my voice and some filtered acoustic guitar.

A little after halfway you do the crazy "aaaaaah aaaaah aaaaah" bit... I guess the origional was done with tape phasing and/or a leslie... how did you do it?

The big harmony thing after the "Logged in..." thing, before the return to the main verse structure?

I recorded three tracks for three part harmony, close to the mic. Threw a little compression on them, and a great big "last row of seats in the stadium" reverb effect, and, well, that was it.

Yeah, no shit. And a titanic effort. Not something I would wake up just any day and try to record by myself, but you pulled it off quite nicely. And yeah, the aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahs after "somebody noticed and sent me back to Hell..." aare brilliantly executed.

where do you get the time?

I have a special machine that compresses time several-fold when necessary—in your "Earth" time, this took about three hours. I do a lot of loose planning in my head.

I actually realized when I sat down to get started that I didn't know the details of the arrangment. The two melodies, sure, and the main part is not tricky, but I had to put on the iPod and go through the track a couple times to note down how they handled the changes. And even then, there are some arrangement differences that I have to admit are memory errors and not deliberate choices.

I'm glad it's gone over so well. Kind words not discounted one bit, I don't think this is really the best Mefi -- The Lost Sessions track I've done, just the longest. Heh.
