The Second Longest Night

Previously on MeFi: Novelist Jonathan Lethem wrote several songs for musicians to do with as they wished. One song made me want to try to channel my inner Daryl Hall or "Goodbye Cruel World"-era Elvis Costello.

still doesn't play. Does it play in preview when you are uploading it?

The funny thing is that you can see the "load bar" actually loads, but the player never starts.

George, if you email me a download link for this song, I can try replacing it on the server. It does appear to be a working mp3 file at the moment.

Damned weird. I wonder what the story is. allaboutgeorge, can you email the mp3 you're uploading?

It wouldn't play as originally downloaded—WMP threw an error. Renamed it to .m4a: perfect in iTunes. So...was this encoded by iTunes? I'm presuming this player won't deal with AAC files correctly.

I think Daryl and Elvis' lawyers are blocking allaboutgeorge's file because he didn't clear the necessary channeling licenses...

all: I created it in GarageBand and outputted it as an .m4a. I then renamed the file ending as .mp3. I should've sent it to iTunes as an .m4a and had iTunes convert it to .mp3 (or MPEG 1 layer 3).

cortex, mathowie: I e-mailed it. Sorry for all the runaround.

flapjax at midnite: Lawyers won't have to intervene as long as I'm around to get in my own consarned way. :-(

Dandy. Thanks, allaboutgeorge; hopefully Matt can swap the mp3 proper soon.

I like this.

I don't like the funky equalizer phasing. Unnecessary gimmick, and it's not needed on this track. There's nothing to cover up.
