The drum track is a 4 or 5 second sample from a Steinberg library named "Rabbit Dance". A couple of samples from old-time radio, me an my Casio and there you have it. I tried to do something in the first section with lead guitar ala Santana, but I came up with nothing. Anyone want to add a track to that?

Hey, I like this a lot, slug. Here's some thoughts: if I were your producer, I'd fuck up the radio sample: perhaps drench it in reverb, maybe then use only the reverb signal and none of the original... just to make it a little more mysterious. Then I'd bring in the percussion (which sounds great, BTW) a little sooner: maybe just as that first radio sample fades out. And, for my money, lead guitar a la Santana would be bad. No need for it! I'd also take the Welles 'Mars invades' sample and, I dunno, do something to that one as well, although I do like how it's so jarring and unexpected when it comes in. It's such a specific historical/cultural reference, though, and that for me detracts a bit from the originality of the piece. It makes you think of that, whereas if it was something less famous, a bit more mysterious... for me that'd fit the piece a little better.

Anyway, those are just some thoughts. I think this is far and away the best thing you've posted to MeFiMu so far.

Thanks guys. That drum sample is part of a collection of Native American samples that I think you get with Cubase. There's lots of really nice sounds and rhythms there that I want to experiment with. Thanks for the suggestions flapjax at midnite. I'll play around with those ideas and see what I can come up with. The thing I was trying to do was show the similarity between Amie's Revival meeting and Welles' big hoax...and just how gullible people are. But I guess music is like a joke; if you have to explain it, it can't be very funny.
