Potent LIVE segway track. Performed on a digital recording answering machine, recorded using a micro-cassette player.

First music post, I see. Definitely intriguing, I'd like to hear more of your stuff and get a better grasp on what it is you're doing. I'm always a fan of the avant-garde.

BNTY, when I get emotionally excited or agitated, unusual things happen with electronic equipment around me, particularly when I have friends around I trust.

It started when I was younger, and has waxed and waned, over the years, but it's been on the wax-side for the past six or seven years, until I am unable to be around certain live performances if I get to excited, particularly if it has to do with repetitive forms (I steer WAY clear of rap shows - the vibe gets insane! Anything "conflict"-oriented or aggrresive is a no-no for me.) And many times when I have performed in front of a "straight" audience, members of the audience have either punched me or attacked my equipment. I stopped doing these live shows when I was performing for a friend at a lodge in Squamish, BC, and two audience members got into a fight not one minute after I began - one trying to make me stop, the other making certain I didn't. Too intense, not what I am working for.

On the up side, many live electronic noise performances and the emotionally-savvy audience these show draw are a pleasure. It gets really fun, swell even!

Since I am now in Key West, my outlets for expression are seriously limited. But I just wanted you to know, I am not a studio musician and neither do I rely on tapes or playbacks for performance. For me, the live show is where everything comes together.

Incidentally? I did a show in Victoria, BC, opening for a group called King Bong, where at one point members of the audience were up on the tables flicking me off and screaming at me - "YOU SUCK!!" which is a lot for a Canadian audience - but like I said, I am certain about what it is I am doing (which in this case was repetitive and seemingly destructive re-organization of crappy but well-loved 80's pop), and when I finally got EVERYONE's attention in the room, I dropped into the opening bars of Rush's Tom Sawyer, and the room went as crazy as if I had been Rick Nash scoring the winning breakaway goal at the IIHF World Hockey Championship in Moscow last week.

My feeling is that once I am able to get everyone on the same emotional plane - in this case, trying to get through to me that I SUCK - then we can all go wherever we want.

In this case, I took us all straight to the Homeland.

And buriednexttoyou?

HI I'M ON METAFILTER AND I COULD OVERTHINK A PLATE OF BEANS made me spit Kombucha thru my nose.

Strangely, when I first heard it, it actually made me think of Squamish, BC, a place I haven't thought about for some time.)

Segway track eh? I like it! I can definately imagine hearing this in a club or whatever between songs/sets. It would drive people nuts, but that's cool.

hummanaire, I think I would be the guy fighting to let you do your thing, if ever our paths crossed.

Also, as a very serious and professional musician, I am obligated to be completely embarassed by the success of the plate of beans song. But I'm glad you liked it.
