ps unlike the last song I put up, these vocals are actually by my friend and co-conspirator from many past bands. i wrote it, he did the vocals and acoustic guitar, and i layered the rest over.

i think we will redo that last one as well with him on vocals.

Wow great song! The production sounds great as well--I just came over from the askmefi thread about recording setups and you mentioned that this was done with a pretty low cost set-up. It just goes to show that it is the talent and artistry that matters not gear...

You mentioned in that thread that you played the drums with your fingers using a keyboard--is this done through midi? (I've never used midi/keys before, but I'm intrigued with the solid drum sound you got). What muti-track program did you use?

Not midi. I truly do not understand how to use midi. No, this is from a cheap Yamaha keyboard, this model , where you can just dial in different sounds, like organs, pianos, horns, etc. Many of these suck, however, thr drums sound quite good (after a minor amount of post-recording EQ'ing). I just run a quarter-inch cable out of it and into the quarter inch jack in the soundcard of my PC.

What muti-track program did you use?

I use Cakewalk Sonar, version 4 I believe. I don't do anything with that that you couldn't do with probably any other multitracking software out there (EQ + effects).

Thanks for the info and link. I think that the "finger drums" are a cool way to make a drum pattern w/out the more robotic feel of a built-in or programmed loop. Thanks for your help and keep posting more cool songs!
