You people are dangerous for my ego. Something a bit different now; a song in praise of my hometown of Ottawa, Ontario. This song was written for the 175th anniversary of the construction of the Rideau Canal. The tune is by a well-known local Irish musician, Frank Cassidy. This tune has a two-octave-and-a-note range, folks. Don't try this at home.

For those of you who are interested, Frank has a kickass CD about the life and times of Thomas D'arcy McGee, highlighting the various traditional musical influences that can be found in the Ottawa Valley. The tune for this song comes from that album. Read more about it here.

Holy Cripes, I re-read my post a couple of minutes after posting, only to realize what an incredibly egocentric idiot I sound like. Many apologies!

I myself do not hear you as an "incredibly egocentric idiot" I find myself hearing what a beautiful voice you have with a range that will rip apart most anyone else's.

It is a wonderful song as with all your other's.
And a remarkable display of discipline. Great Job!

Oh my God, your voice is amazing. I just listened to your other songs. I had to listen twice because the first time I couldn't get past the sound of your voice.

Suggestion: add a little chorus and a wee bit of reverb. Or ask someone here for help engineering a track. A little professional touch and you'll sound better than Enya.

Hiya Pastabagel

Thanks for the advice. Can you recommend someone that could help? (I'm kinda new here).

Offhand, try cortex (on of the admins), chococat, goonewsfortheinsane, or ageispolis. aegispolis can do some amazing electronic/ambient stuff so he clearly knows how to mix audio. If you're looking for a Clannad/Lisa Gerrard/Enya sound to your vocal, he's the man. I don't know busy they are, with school starting up soon (I have no clue how old anyone is).

Maybe the best thing to do might be to ask the question on AskMe "Who can help me engineer or mix my vocal tracks so they sound better, or teach me how to do it myself?" Mixing a song is not easy work, so you'd be asking someone to volunteer a lot of their time, so be extra humble and polite, and you'll fit in fine. Your voice is really really good.

I don't think this really needs any more reverb than it's already got. Right now it's a really clean, pure, beautifully-sung folksong, and making it sound like Enya would be a step in the wrong direction as far as I'm concerned.
