Death of a Disco Dancer

My current band, Derailleur, covering the Smiths. This was recorded live at a show a couple of years ago, right after we discovered the joys of doing weird things to keyboards. I'd like to point out that I'm the one torturing the keyboard this time.

I like the way you torture keyboards. Was it pedals? Thanks for posting this.

COBRA! No, seriously, COBRA!

Thanks for posting this live piece. As much as we post stuff here, it can never replace performing for a live audience.

Thanks, guys!

And yeah, we run our keyboard (this weird little child-sized Casio thing; we have several others, but this one has the best sound) through a cheapie DOD 3-way pedal that can do echo, flange, or chorus. Then that goes through a little Fender amp that we try to come as close to overloading as possible for the proper right-on-the-edge distortion.

It's a weird keyboard setup, but we get a lot of mileage out of it (the "theramin" going on the track we contributed to MeFiComp? Yep, that's our Casio), and when we bring in bigger, nicer keyboards they never quite measure up. The only one that comes close is this ancient electric organ that our other guitarist found in a basement; when it works, it rules, but the wiring's sketchy and it'll start making noises or blowing sour notes without warning.
