Sally's Songs (Tom Waits Style)

October 21, 2007 5:05 PM

So I went for the triumvirate: it's a spooky song with overwrought instrumentation and Tom Waits style vocals. Hope you enjoy.

I've had this laying around for a while and I"ve been looking for a suitable lady type to do the vocals. I figured it would work out well for the comp. Happy Halloween everybody.

Uf! What I say could easily be misconstrued, but I mean it in the most honest way: I'd love to hear and instrumental version of this song. Nothing wrong with your voice, it's just that the instrumentation has such a nice texture, that I think it would do a great instrumental. It kinda sounds to me like a cross between Combustible Edison and Tom Waits. Which should be high praise by anyone's standards.

You think there's a chance you would post an instrumental version of it here in-thread?

I totally missed the fact that it was Sally's Song and I was thinking "wow, this sounds almost exactly like that song from Nightmare Before Christmas...."

Very cool!

here you go micayetoca. to be honest, the vocals popped up a bit louder than i wanted after the mixdown, but it was late and i was too lazy to change it. if anyone wants to throw some vox at this, feel free.

by the way, recording this song was the pretty much the test kitchen for this one.

Hey, es_de_bah, I just realized I downloaded the instrumental version, but didn't thank you at the moment. It was very cool of you to do that version just because I asked. Thx a lot.
