Surfer Girl

No, not that Surfer Girl. I wrote this years ago back when the internet was still pretty new and AOL chat rooms were becoming popular. Recorded on my first Mac with no bass and a drum machine that I had absolutely no idea how to work.

I like it. Would you post the lyrics?

Thanks for the comment. And here are the lyrics. They're a bit buried in the mix.

She's a one of a kind
It might be time to face the things you don't do
Cause with her heart on the line
she just might find someone better than you

She's riding a wave of doubt
her friends don't even know about
She's a surfer girl

And in her favorite place a guilty face
reflects into a dim room
It's time to pick up the pace in this human race
cause he'll be home soon

She takes in the bedroom rays
and dreams at night of better days

And your surfer girl, she likes to speak in words unspoken
and your surfer girl just wants to keep her options open
She's your surfer girl

She'd like to take some time alone
Maybe get a place she could call her own
When did that summer sun grow cold
it's a life too young for a love so old

A lifeguard to call her own
To guard against a life alone
And your surfer girl, she likes to speak in words unspoken
And your surfer girl just wants to keep her options open

She's your surfer girl

Huh, you may have had "limited resources", but it doesn't sound like it. This is really sweet.

Quite nice. You have a very nice voice. I gotta confess I wasn't expecting to like it, I thought it was going to be a jokey half-cooked song about the Internet, but it turned out to be a cool, melodic song. Thank you for posting it.

Ditto. This is gnarly, dude. Playlisted.

Bass frequencies are overrated. Just ask Prince. Great song, thanks for posting it.

This is downright haunting. The LV is a bit hard to make out, which is why I visited this page - I did not have all the lyrics. It's nice as is, but also worth a re-mix or re-recording if you ever have the chance. BTW, http://www.v-band.de/ is a collaboration site if you ever need someone to add tracks.

* I've been getting the MeFite podcast for a while now, and this is one of 20-40 outstanding pieces I saved to a playlist like Effigy.
