Nostalgia x 2. Recorded in the mid-'90's as nostalgia for the '80's.

A crappy old recording, which I always meant to re-record but probably never will.
Recorded on a shitty lo-fi Tascam Porta05 4-track, probably in '96, as my wife was pregnant and so I quit smoking (after 11 years.) Nostalgia about how weird it was that we were changing so much...it seemed like just a few years earlier we used to drive all over the place as teenagers and then eventually back and forth to each others' universities in different provinces and we both smoked and she would light two and pass me one and it seemed like a lifetime away, two totally different people.
Now it's doubly, triply so.

Even your lo-fi recordings sound better than my hi-fi ones, geez.

This sounds a bit like "Like sun", they both have the same sort of beachboys/velvetunderground feel to my ears and that sound also suits you very well. Great song, good to have another one from you.

This makes me think -- Simon & Garfunkel meets Teenage Fanclub.

Gives me a chill. I really love the way this one sounds. It's simultaneously sunny and bittersweet.

Eight thumbs up.

(Tascam 4-tracks rule.)

Yea, man. This is as sweet as anything else you've done. It's funny that this is from "then" but it's still undeniably "you". Very, very!

(I had a Tascam 4, but blew up its little power thing by accidentally using on a toy train set. It even caught on fire.)

Chococate, I love the low-fi feel of this. In fact, I think the low-fi-ness MAKES this song - I see no need to re-record it. I also have an affinity for short songs like this - quick and to the point.

Have you heard "The Apartment Song?" by Tom Petty? Reminds me a little of that.

This might actually be my favorite of your songs.
