Sailor Martin, my
pierced and tattooed ventriloquist dummy, attempts, and fails at, recording a song for children about pretty birds and fuzzy rabbits.
The original recording is "When Will the Sun Shine for Me" by Kaplan's Melodists, recorded in 1923 for Edison Diamond (51060-R). New lyrics and singing by yours truly, recorded onto a Casio Exilim digital camera set to record digital video. The sound files were modified in Audacity to reduce hiss and external noise, and the whole thing was glued together in GarageBand on April, 12, 2008.
"A SAILOR MARTIN SONG FOR CHILDREN" LYRICS:
Look at all the birds in the tree there
Listen to them sing their song
A melody
So light and free
I'd like to sing along
Hey little birds I'm here
Why are you fleeing
Why are you fleeing
What fills your heart with fear
I just want to hold and pet and love you
Hey little bird, you're asleep
You're asleep cuz I hugged you so hard
Hey little rabbits so furry
Where are you hopping
Where are you hopping
Why are you in such a hurry
When I want to kiss and squeeze and hug you
Hey little rabbit, asleep
You're asleep cuz I hugged you so hard
