Your Turn

A breakbeat/big beat spy song -- one part Propellerheads ripoff, one part Space Ghost nonsense.

Obviously, this only fits the "spy" part of the challenge, seeing as I didn't use the provided lyric and quite fancy this style of music.

Which reminds me, what are folks like the Chemical Brothers and Fat Boy Slim up to lately? Anything?

This is sick! (in a good way). I'm curious about the origin of this beat - did you program it note by note, or sample it from somewhere?

Thanks folks, glad you enjoyed it! It was as fun to make as I hope it is to listen to.

arcanecrowbar -- I used Reason, so the main drums are hand programmed in the Redrum machine (and then laid out onto the sequencer track). There's a drum loop (Dr. Rex -> filtered, widened a bit, and with a slightly higher pitch) overlaying that to fill in the gaps and add a bit more natural groove to the sound. You can hear it during the bridges where the up-front drums stop.

flapjax -- who knows.. I know that the Crystal Method still mixes in LA for some radio show. I haven't really listened to this genre in a long time, so I'll defer to Wikipedia.

and flapjax, last I heard about Fat Boy Slim I heard it from some friends who he met in Belize. There were talks that they would do something together (and it sounded really interesting) but then Andy Palacio died, and I haven't heard anything about it. Hopefully he will still remix some of Andy's music.

Just the whole feel of it. The drums, the way they're mapped out onto effects, the bassline, etc.
