What About Tonight

You won't care tomorrow.

More a sketch than a song. A demo from a few years ago.
I've tried to work this riff into, probably, three different song demos and this was the last one I tried. I'm posting it as part of my new slash and burn policy of killing nostalgia and old demos, so I don't have to record them "for real" and I'm forced to write new things.

The clever among you will notice, in the very first second of the song, the meow of my trusty old cat (who would inevitably whine to be let in at my basement window, as soon as a vocal take was underway.)
He kicked the bucket a year last December.
But that is another song.

Tambourine like that is what I call Maureen Tucker drums -and I love them-, though the rest of the song feels less velvet underground than, say Like Sun, and more like a subset of your songs -perhaps He's Dining Alone or You're Just New.

And so, does this new slash and burn policy of yours means we'll see a flood of your old recordings? You would make our lives easier, I was about to start collecting signatures to ask pb to design a new site feature that would made you post all those old songs you keep telling us about.

Oooo, chococat, that was very pretty! Out of curiosity, how many vocal tracks have you got going on there?

Man, it's a bitch when other people's sketches or demos are miles ahead of your real recordings. :-)

I don't know what I can say that I haven't said in a comment on one of your pieces. Suffice it to say that your voice is the one that pops into my head when I think of MeFi Music -- you've helped define this place for me, and perhaps many others.

I would ask that, since you are ready to be rid of them, if I could record all of your old demos. But, then they would suck! If this is killing off old stuff, get into those old drawers (files?) man!

Thanks a lot, guys.
Mulp, I think there's 5 vocals. Main one, 3-part harmony and then some other not really harmony stuff.

Always a fan of your mixes, chococat. This one is remarkably rich, with that swooping bass coming in to push sound into a range that already sounded full. Not to mention the nice, simplistic lyric/melody that acts as a nice skeleton for the tendrils of your popping guitars.
