Rough mix of a Derailleur song about Stan Lee. How many guitars are in this song? Lots. Lots of guitars.

When I came up with the melody, the thought was that it sounded like an Australian beer-drinking anthem, so that's sort of the spirit in which it was approached.

I don't think I'm familiar with the beer-drinking anthem genre, but if this it, it gets my stamp of approval! I love the break at just after the 2-minute mark. I look forward to hearing what the non-rough mix sounds like.

Thanks a lot, guys!

After bean-plating it last night at practice, we think this mix is probably pretty close to what the final one will be. The big worry was that the vocals were a little nasal, but we kind of decided that we are what we are, nasal vocals and all.

This isn't really my cup of tea, but it is a catchy vocal melody and I do enjoy that break danb mentioned. And I mean, the riff is practically classic. I also sort of envy that hihat sound. I always want to get that "flat, dry" (no idea if those words make sense to anyone but me here) sound. You probably know Paul Westerberg's stuff? If you want ideas for how to mix your music (I realize this i a rough mix), I think you could do worse than listen to his "Mono" CD. I mention it because he has a nasal voice that he makes work, and he has a kind rough and rollicking approach to guitar playing. He doesn't have many guitars going at once, so your task is harder. I think your mix could benefit from a better distinction between sounds. The guitars all sound very similar, like you cast a film with actors who all look alike.

I had to listen twice though, because it's just a plain fun song to listen to! Well done.

Agree that the drums sound dead good. The vocals sound a bit like they're floating around 'on top of' the mix, if that makes sense - perhaps a littl reverb-matching or a bit of a pan or something might help?
