Tags for MeFi Music Challenge songs...

I received some MeFiMail the other day from spiderskull, and I'll excerpt the pertinent bits here: "Hey flapjax, I was wondering if you think it'd be useful to encourage Mefi musicians to add any extra tags depending on what part of the challenge they've tackled -- e.g. in addition to mefimusicchallenge, they could also tag lyricchallenge, musicchallenge, wildcardchallenge based on what they did. The idea here is that in the future, you could look up only those individual tags; say, for instance, I look at all music tagged lyricchallenge. I can see how different people used the same lyrics for different challenges, and it lets me filter out the stuff I'm not interested in." I think it's a good idea, and anyone else who think it's a good idea, please start tagging your songs in this way: the basic mefimuchallenge tag, plus musicchallenge or lyricchallenge or wildcardchallenge, as applicable. I also think it's cool that folks have been using tags like spy and whatever else seems appropriate for the thematic stuff. And should you feel any need to discuss this here, please do so.

By the way, while I've got your attention, a reminder: please send me more MeFi Music Challenge ideas. Sure, I've got a backlog, but there's been a sharp drop-off in idea submissions, and we're gonna need more for the future. Keep the challenge alive! Keep the challenge alive! As long as you put a list somewhere I can easily find it, otherwise I'm not going to remember. (Perhaps folowing each challenge description in the "Current Challenge" box.)

Also, I miss having the challenges listed on the front music page. Maybe there could be a quick summary?

Oh! AND THEN you could click on the challenge type ("LYRIC" or "MUSIC" or "WILDCARD") and it would take you to the current month's entries for that specific challenge!

I think the place for this would be the Post a new song page. We could have a reminder there of the tags that people should use, sort of what they have in the Post a New Question page in AskMe.

Something like that might work, yeah. We went with the "hey look over there" kicker at the top of the main page as a short term re-orientation device, but we'll probably tweak it in the next month or so and incorporating a challenge-prompt one-liner isn't a bad idea.

That'd be cool. I wasn't gonna say anything, but it did seem to me that the "hey look over there" might not be quite enough. It's easily missed or forgotten, somehow.
