Hip-hop style beat orginally intended for a remix, but I think it holds up on its own.

Mixture of samples and synth made in Reason 4. My first MeFi Music post.

Sounds surprisingly like the Boards of Canada In a Beautiful Place Out In the Country EP, particularly 'Kid for Today'.

Nice!

Seconding the BoC. This is super fucking good-- I especially like the texture of the sounds you used.

Really good. I like the tabla style beats that become prominent around 3:10. I want to encourage you to add original vocals of some sort to it to take it beyond the BoC comparisons. If you thought that might be appealing I'd be happy to help to come up with something.

Thanks for the comments!

I never would have expected comparisons to Boards of Canada, especially since I originally made it to be a rap beat. But I guess upon relistening it does have similar qualities.

dobie: I'm not much of a vocalist myself, but it does sound appealing.

I like too - I think out of all the synth tones you used, the fake string section works the best.

Although the drums work just fine, you could probably do a whole lot in terms of making them gooshier/dirtier-- think sliced up, pitch bent drum loops, that sort of thing. Right now, they sound a little too clean.

Of course then, i'm also a big BoC fan :)

I love trip hop when it's not over-ambitious. This reminds me of Sneaker Pimps a bit, too.
