Protein Shoes

By request...the last answering machine song I'll post. This one's about a pair of "protein shoes." If you can figure out what that means (even after hearing the phrase in context at the end), I'll give you ten dollars.

This is one of our earlier efforts, but what it lacks in sophistication it makes up for in protein.

Preteen shoes, badly mispronounced. The wah-wah guitar is excellent on this.

I tried doing a search. Maybe this wikipedia entry will help.

I'm so jealous. Wikipedia deleted my page. Apparently, it's not enough to be Omaha's most successful playwright.

I actually know the truth behind this message, and while your guesses have been good, nobody has hit it yet. You've got to think outside the box. As in, maybe this lady didn't pronounce the word that sounds like "protein" properly.

My guess: Protean Shoes - swap out the velcro pads to fit your mood!

Deft use of the rewind sound (backscratching!), and the rhythm of the words. The title phrase has a nice melodic lilt. The message starts out sounding like a strong accusation but clearly is not once heard in full.

Protean is right. The shoes were apparently part of a costume in a play featuring Proteus. Who wore shoes.
