Lost Time

A rough mix of the title track from my just-recorded EP under the name Green Sees.

I enjoyed the track a lot. Excellent production.

Did you play all the parts yourself, or was it with a band?

Thanks for the kind words, alligatorman. The EP was recorded by some very talented friends of mine who also played on the tracks. I played guitars and sang on the tracks, keyboards, bass, and drums were done by friends.

I really like this; the jangly guitar texture and vocal harmonies are really nice together. I feel like the lead vocals get a little lost in the mix, though (I'd have to do quite a bit of work even to guess at the lyrics).

Thanks for listening, uncleozzy. This mix is definitely uneven, just a rough mix from Pro Tools. Mixing, mastering, and all that other post-production goodness is still to come. I think that when the tracks are mixed properly they'll sound very different -- for example, you'll hear that wonderful piano playing in the bridge brought out more. Same thing with the vocals which badly need compression, etc.

If there's interest I can post the lyrics as well.

It's like Chicago Sufjan got in a fight with the Beach Boys and everybody won.

Lyrics are always a good thing; please post 'em.

That's a very nice thing to say, cortex! Thanks!

Lyrics:

You meet me at the airport
Smile painted on your face
Your touch is like a stranger's
Cold and stiff in our embrace

And wouldn't it be nice
If we realized
We could make up all this lost time

You call me by the old name
No one calls me anymore
The rain hits the windows
I hold fast onto the door

Keep wishing I knew you
Like you think you know me now
I'd tell you my dreams and
What I think they're all about

And wouldn't it be nice
If we realized
We could make up all this lost time

If you keep holding out
You will soon find out
That somehow you lost the very best thing in your life

And wouldn't it be nice
If we realized
We could make up all this lost time

But you don't want to hear that
Better later regret
That I was something you could never find

Reminds me of Step in to My Office, Baby, one of my favorite twee pop tracks.

I'm only now catching up with MeMu after some days away, and I came to find your song. Don't have much to add to the comments above, but I wanted to leave a comment saying "hey, what a nice song!" so, there it is. Nice song, inoculatedcities.
