My very first MeFiMuCh entry, this one is Halloween themed. It is dark and spookily minimalist electronic pop with ghostly vocals and lyrics about being at the end of the world (via zombie apocalypse) with a loved one and the logistics of love in the time of zombies. Interesting to note, this song was originally written on banjo as a folk song. But when trying to add some electronic elements to it experimenting with the recorded version I decided to make it a straight electronic song.

I wrote this song a while back on banjo. I wanted to write a zombie song that wasn't nakedly about zombies, but was still dark and had the menacing death-is-inevitable tone to it that was primarily folk based. Because I had, and still haven't ever, heard an old timey folk song about zombies*. Lyrics are as follows: "I Trust You To Kill Me" I don't mind being here with you At the end of the world But if our minds are sharp And our aim is true Then we just might make it another night through I don't know if there's any hope Or a God in the sky But in this hole, I'll fight and die Just to spend another night with you Now my dear I gather men For supplies we must ride But swear this to me, swear on your life For humanity If by chance we should meet again And in my eyes, the darkness you see Remember the words once sworn in love I trust you to kill me Remember the words once spoke in love. *I don't count Jonoathon Coulton's "Re: Your Brains" as it's too tongue in cheek, I wanted a serious folk song about zombies

I'd also like to clarify just so there is no doubt, though this song was originally written a year or so ago.. it was never recorded, in fact I had forgotten entirely about it until I ran across the sheet of paper I wrote it on two days ago. That's when I started recording, and ended up with this.

Powerful - love in desperate circumstances, very romantic, yet sad. For some reason, I have the mental image of (zombie) film credits rolling while this plays. Love the fuzzy perc. Thanks for posting the lyric, too. Minor quibbles: this is a bit drawn out, and the line "And in my eyes, the darkness you see" threw me a bit. Please keep posting.

"In my eyes, the darkness you see" is to say, "If we meet again, and you see that I am not me but a zombie, then kill me."
