A song about a common situation - you know, when you go out on a date and your girl gets kidnapped by a giant robot bug.

Recorded by my band. I was going to enter it in the October mefimusicchallenge but we didn't record it for that purpose so it seems a bit unfair. Also, this song features my solution to an AskMe question I posed about Japanese movie samples. In the end we just got the engineer (who is Japanese) to do some live overdubs.

Oh, you should totally add the challenge tag to this!

This is much more suave than I was expecting it to be. I especially like the riff that starts around 1:40.

I am a fan of samples that aren't -- I would have assumed that your engineer's contribution was a movie sample if you hadn't tipped your hand. Stroke of luck, though, huh?

What do you play in your band? You sound like one of those bands that puts on a show live.

Suave? Hey thanks. Ah yes the engineer is Koya Hisakazu who runs the Mark 1 Music Centre in Hong Kong, and he also plays bass in more bands than I can think of.

I'm playing all the fuzz guitar in the song. It's one of my favourite songs to play. :)

Just say yes to fuzz guitar! This is neat... I like the sense of urgency in the middle section.

Yeah, definitely add the tag. I posted an age-old song to the spy challenge just because I wanted to contribute and didn't have the time that month to record anything new.

Ooh, yeah, it just came in, and now I know what they were referring to, that riff is nice. Is that a theremin that comes in before the sample-non-sample?

It's funny, the sort of "narration" style of the voice kinda reminds me of The Doors, but the music has nothing to do with that. I like the song a lot. It evokes a lot of classic elements of rock, but in a new way.

Theremin? Nope, that's my guitar played through a weird fuzzbox that has six oscillators and a CV pedal, plus some delay.
