Per arcanecrowbar's request, Big Star's September Gurls.

I hadn't heard this song before, and it's a really neat bit of pop. Every neat bit of pop, though, is just waiting to get loud. This is how I hear it in my head; I hope it rocks your day.

Quick headphone mix, so if it blows up your speakers or something... well, sorry about that.
I'd also like to know how you recorded this, the drums in particular.

Thanks, guys. As usual, the drums are Addictive Drums, a product for which I'll happily shill. Easy to dial in a great sound, but plenty of ways to tweak, too. I program them using Logic's Hyper Editor, which makes it a little easier to program reasonably natural-sounding drums.

The guitars are mostly the PODxt Mesa Dual Recto sim; one track is capo 2, which gives a nice, thick texture. The lead and the breakdown guitar are, I think, the Hiwatt sim, which is my favorite all-around amp in the POD. Bass is direct, through Logic's bass amp sim, with a little fuzz to give texture up the middle.

On re-listening, the vocals are way too dry, mostly; maybe I'll remix this someday. Oh well.

After another few listens, really good work on the drums! The ride sound and some of the snare stuff in particular had me thinking they were real. Looks like maybe spending a little money on good drum sounds and logic makes a difference over what I've been about to get out of GaragaBand rhythm packs.

Sweet cover. It's interesting to me that you chose to take it in this direction - the Replacements kept a few Big Star covers up their sleeves and they generally rawked em up in this same way . . I was looking for a link to their high-octane version of "I'm In Love With A Girl" but I can't find it anywhere.
Never travel far . . . without a little Big Star!

Yeah, I asked precisely because of the drums. I thought they were real and I thought that it had been a pretty quick response (thinking that it's harder to convince a band to do a song because it was requested than it is to convince a single person who participates in the page).

Great sound, uncleozzy. And the vocals don't feel too dry for me (in case it helps).
