Maybe a more general "genre theme" challenge, to give folks more latitude in what they feel like spoofing.

I'd like to see the spoofing to include the 1970s news themes, those big, bombastic, horn-driven orchestral themes like KABC or WPVI had. Or the cheery, sunny "Hello News" stuff like they had on one of my hometown stations.

Actually... I want cortex to fashion a cheery "Hello News" type song.

I would love to hear other takes on the news intro but it may be a really tough challenge since it is pretty specific. Maybe, as suggested by cortex, a general them like "cheesiness" could work. Perhaps we could get a little more specific though like "power cheese" or something.

Awesome! When I worked at a multimedia production company in the 90s they had all kind of "stock" music discs - craptastic "Latin" songs, faux Stereo MCs and other peppy numbers in convenient lengths. They had one disc of news-style stings which I thought was excellent and wish I'd made a copy of.

This is so on the nose, as said above, that I think you may be missing a possible revenue stream.

There's got to be a CBS affiliate in Meridian, Mississippi or somewhere that needs a new intro for its midday newscast between Rachel Ray and Days of Our Lives.
