Metal/rock with some little proggish ambitions. Features wheedly-wheedlies at the very end, and some truly incompetent drum programming.

What is that? Between dog and wolf? My French is demonstrably bad. It reminds me of Wolfbait, a local band. Both the vocals and the guitar riff are a little bit too major-happy for metal, and when you have a programmed drum, you might want to put it at the back of the mix. (It might be fun to reprogram the drums to use only that double kick sound for the whole thing).

Yes, literally "between dog and wolf"; idiomatically, the time between light and dark - twilight, or dusk; a bit more figuratively, anything poised between two different natures.

The music isn't really very major key, so - at the risk of telling you what you're hearing - I'd guess the "happy" impression is mostly due to the drum patterns. The verse riff, for instance, is pretty much right out of the Black Sabbath stable. But the harmonic vocabulary is a tiny bit wider than, say, aggressively chromatic thrash metal, and the arpeggiated suspensions in the chorus certainly sound more Rush than Metallica. Ah, genres.

I already feel like I'm being more chatty about my own stuff than is the norm for this place, but heck, I think talking about the stuff is much of the benefit of posting it here, so thanks for putting up a comment.

Another night in winter, another wolf in song
Another hungry hunter wonders where does he belong
There's fire in the village, there's a place that's dry and warm
But he cannot sell his freedom just for shelter from the storm

He stands alone in the wilderness and wonders
Reliving days you would never, ever endure
Between the dog and the wolf he is frozen
Between the sea and the light of a far distant shore

Another restless dreamer, another troubled mind
Another lost and hopeless wants to leave it all behind
There's gold inside the village, there's an easy road to ride
He can buy a better future, and the price is only pride

He stands alone in the wilderness of memory
Recalling tales you would never, ever believe
Between the dog and the wolf he is frozen
Embattled in the bitter pages of history

Down on the stage, the spotlight intensity
Focuses our mortal concerns
While in the wings, with lightning dexterity
Hands control the wheels on which we turn
It goes without saying, we each have our destiny
Lord and Shaper of our domain
And when he bows, the sound of our symphony
Fades into a distant refrain...
