Clap Your Hands

A song I made out of depression and boredom. At least, to the extent that I feel editing is depressing and boring.

I was pretty bored and depressed when I first got to Vancouver. Had a lot of booze and free time. Did a lot of this. I think this is the first track I ever tried vocals on; you can tell not a lot of thought went into it. I was pretty much talking about what was on TV, what I was doing, and whatever else went through my mind.

So another of my hard drives broke recently and I've been going through old back-up CDs and found this one. It blends well with my frame of mind during this crappy March weather. It's from the "one-take-weekend" phase, which was all done in 1 take over the weekend (multiple tracks, but all mistakes in each included) using an m-audio keyboard, garageband, and the internal mic on my now-deceased former laptop.

I like it. I think the one-take factor offsets the coldness some electronic music sometimes has. Having something actually performed, and with mistakes, gives it a certain warmth. I'll be looking forward to more stuff from you.

Nice contrast between the synth-claps and real claps. This has a cool, woozy "the batteries are dying" vibe to it.
