Elemental Fire, 2009 version

When I was 12 or 13 or so, I loved to play around with a MOD tracker I'd downloaded. This is a remake of the first real song I wrote using it.

I tried to stay true to the spirit of the original (i.e. extremely cheesy video-game-sounding music) while modernizing the instrumentation. I'm proud of how I got the bass sounding just right - like a melodic rubber band. I don't know why I associated that sound with fire, but that's about what it sounded like back in the original, too. Done in GarageBand, if it weren't totally obvious by the loops. The other three elements have songs to go with them, too, which I could try this same thing to if anyone is curious. And this is a longshot, but if anyone still has a four-pack of element-themed .mod files written by someone who went by "infomancer@aol.com", that was me.

Whatever happened to Player PRO, anyway?

Ha, this is super-cool. All spy and superhero and boingy. I'd love to hear the original, too. I wish I could find some of the MODs I made in junior high and high school... hell, I was still sequencing drums in Scream Tracker in 2001.

This could be on the soundtrack to Mega Man II, which is probably the biggest compliment I could ever give to a song

Yeah, this is awesome. I'm with dobie on the Mega Man compliment train. Please please please post the rest of the elemental suite!

P.S. It sounds like fire because it cooks like fire

As a former 12-year-old MOD tracker, I say not bad.
