Henrietta Park

Final upload from my pile of rejects - ok, the other two weren't exactly the dog's bollocks (which is why they were jettisoned - duh), but this one..........hell, even I like this...

On fresh listen, could have been recorded at a faster tempo and the vocal is a bit too up-front. I can't be arsed to remix it though - water under the bridge and all that - and I can't varispeed on my DAW anyway.

This has quite a history. I wrote most of the melody more than 10 years ago at a time when I had no recording gear at all and I just got the idea down on a portable cassette recorder. I got an 8-track some years later and recorded a version - badly. I then re-recorded a different version on my faithful Yamaha AW2400 about 3 years ago. I then forgot all about it. That happens a lot with me - huge effort spent, weeks of meticulous fucking around with levels, EQ etc, and as soon as it's finished it goes on a shelf to gather dust.

For the curious - Henrietta Park is in Bath (England). I used to work in that beautiful city (a World Heritage site no less - the only whole city in the world with that designation) and used to go the this park sometimes at lunchtime when I needed some space to think......

Nice stuff. It sounds dated, but in a pleasant way. Love the way you take some time to sing the word "Henrietta."
