I loved this quite a bit; I think the only thing is, that, the main synth line sounded like it was slightly off in tone (not key) and a bit 'thin'; The main baseline, and the rest sounded 'meaty' (for lack of better word); And I loved the 'rude synth' promised at the 2' mark. posted by tiaka at 2:11 AM on

Yeah, it's got a cool feel for sure. It's all digital, yes? What software/plugins are you using? I would say the mix could use a little meat in general. There are some plugins that could definitely help out provided you want to stay in the box...
Really like the music though! posted by nosila at 7:40 AM on

The whole way through, I was waiting for it to explode with some real depth. I agree, it's a pretty cool feel, but the whole thing, the mix feels very thin, very shallow. I felt like it left me wanting more, but wanting it to thicken up as it went along.
Of course, in not doing so, it kept kind of a minimalist vibe going, and I can definitely appreciate that, too. However, I think if that's the direction you meant to go, it would have been longer, and changed up less. posted by askmeaboutLOOM at 9:10 AM on

to me, it feels like the soundtrack for an open source space-travel RPG from the late 90s. in a good way. i don't know why that was so specific. posted by Jon_Evil at 11:17 PM on

Yeah all digital just on ableton with various operator plugins... am very interested in finding our about new plugins and stuff, especially things to help fill out and polish sounds, as I agree with the comments about lack of punch.. I find it very difficult to learn or hear about new plugins, especially cause there are just so many. Any suggestions of good forums or knowledge bases about plugins that can help or is it just a needle in a haystack thing?
Thanks for the comments though! Taken well in heed... posted by jdnason at 11:30 PM on
