After a few diary entries, I soon realized that a continuous hour of reading in my most eloquent monotone did not make for the most captivating listen. To break up the diary entries (and also to account for the missing time between pages), I inserted these musical interludes.

I agree with your decision. Also, I applaud your use of varied instrumentation throughout; it really helps bring life to something as...seemingly pointless as that diary really was. I guess it goes to further your thesis that lyrics aren't particularly important to music. For your purposes, it's just another instrument--another texture, which is what makes abstract lyrics, or even things as "non-lyrical" as the ones in this series, so great.
