I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue.....

Yet another challenge idea - I promise I'll shut the fuck up for a while after this one...

ISIHAC is something of an English cultural institution (BBC Radio 4). One section of the show is where contestants have to sing the lyrics of one song to the tune of another......often with hilarious results. Naturally, we could push the, er, envelope a little on this. We do not suffer from the constraints of public broadcasting.

So..................who wants to have a crack at singing the lyrics of, say, The Stooges "No Fun" to the tune of, say, Marley's "One Love"? Or - far better - vice versa. You get the idea. Suggestions for outlandish combinations welcome - the more outre the better....

And all in memory of the late, lamented chairman of the show - the wonderfully irreverent, gently subversive and slyly hilarious Sir Humphrey Littleton. I like to think Humph would have warmly approved..... A great guy and a true gentleman - sorely missed.

I am thoroughly ashamed to have misspelt Humph's surname. It's Lyttleton, not Littleton.

Just gets worse and worse. It's fucking Lyttelton. That's LYTTELTON goddamit. Jesus man....just how strong is this fucking weed...?

That sounds fun. It's the old 'amazing grace' to the tune of 'gilligan's island' gag.

Dundee, you're the greatest, and your ideas and energy are an enormous contribution to this subsite. So, by all means, don't shut the fuck up.

But... you might consider just sending me your Challenge ideas via MeFi mail, which is what everyone else does.

the coda from the saladabar cover of 燃えろいい女 is an example of this. lyrics from 燃えろいい女 sung to the melody of Somebody to Love.

I'm suitably admonished Flapjax - I'll send future ideas via email. But I think I will give it a rest for a while anyway.

Mexican - yup - it's simple idea and it's just a laugh. I think it would work best with the music from some turgid po-faced rawk ballad (the sort of ghastly excresence that comes out of the backsides of the likes of Chris De Burgh or Andrew Lloyd Thingy for instance) coupled with the lyric from something really sweaty and disreputable, or just plain unhinged.
