Starless And Bible Black

For the sake of completeness, if "Medicine Man" had been an A-side this - a natural companion piece in mood and texture - would have been the flipside. Obviously on an impeccably cool label (Elektra, Sire, Stiff, Island pre-sell off). Well.....I can dream...

Yes I know King Crimson had an album of the same name, but I'm a big Dylan Thomas fan and this line is from the opening of Under Milk Wood. So fuck 'em. Actually, even if you hate this track check out the BBC 1950's recordings of UMW with Richard Burton as "1st Voice" - they're fantastic.

Hey Major, I'm curious. When was the last time you listened to any Punk Rock? Or...did any screaming and yelling?

The reason I'm curious is because we may be on a kind of cross roads. I've spent my time as a musician (well, my attempts at such) screaming and yelling and with great effect. Recently though, especially here on MeFiMusic, I've found that more gentle singing is working pretty well for me.

I wonder if the opposite might work for you. Not that I don't enjoy your vocals, but I really do wonder what you might sound like.

Fucking awful probably!

I'm not a singer sns and I don't claim or desire to be. My ideal situation is to be the guitar player who writes some of the material but leaves the lyric-writing and singing to someone else in the band. Only reason I do it all is 'cos there ain't no-one else. If you wanna holler over one of my backing tracks I'm up for it - me and uncleozzy just did a transatlantic collaboration that was surprisingly easy logistically.....
