A sketch of a song - trying out a new recording setup (Maschine + Live)

I like the way this starts and I'd like to encourage myself to finish what I've started here, so I'm posting this as a kind of self-kick-in-the-pants.

I really like the way the beginning sounds, too. What do you want to do with it to finish it? Going with the very in-the-background drums, it really seems like background music to a happy scene in a movie. I'd love to see what direction you take it in, though, so post again!

I'm thinking it needs some bass instrument to round it out, also I think I'm going to redo the percussion in a more thought-out way - I like the sounds, but the sequencing is a bit odd.
I'm also toying with having it actually have more than one repeating main phrase - we'll see...

Thanks for the input!

I really like that repeating phrase. It reminds me a little bit of the song "Modern Girl" by Sleater-Kinney. What other instruments do you have? A clear, straight, slightly minor melody above the repeating line would make a beautiful bridge.

I have a crappy organ that I was thinking of using for the bass sound. That, or some simple synth sound, I figure I'll probably try both and see which works better. I often wish I had a cello for hese types of situations. I think a (very) simple cello line might work nicely.

This is neat. It sort of sounds like making breakfast to me, for some reason. I don't know that it needs anything else, honestly (which, given my propensity for overdubs, ought to tell you something). Another little ostinato, maybe descending, might be nice, but I really like this as-is.

Very pretty. The more it swings the better.
