Canadians will no doubt remember the nation-wide contest that was held to find a new theme for the CBC's much-beloved Hockey Night In Canada when the royalties for the original became too expensive. Here is an entry that I made as a joke and never submitted, although, to be honest, I think it captures the essence of the sport pretty well.
Seriously, while the new theme song is great, all the other intro music (Up to the Minute, Satellite Hotstove, etc.) sounds like it was arranged using the same synthesizer they have been using since 1984 - gah, I hate them so much!
Now imagine your theme being used - fast paced, exciting, fun and crisp. Now that would be cool.
Oh CBC - get rid of the damn fake-violin synthesizer music! posted by bitteroldman at 6:09 AM on
