Knock on Wood

February 8, 2010 10:37 PM

Another cut from the aforementioned poorly recorded jam session. Cover of Eddie Floyd's "Knock on Wood."

The band: me (lead vocals), Nancy (backup vocals), Sandy (guitar and harmonica), Stu (bass), and Ted (drums).

And yes, I know that we sound more psychedelic than soul. But you try doing soul without horns.

Heh, fun. This is one of those songs that I've clearly heard but didn't know I knew. Moment of Oh Right and then humming along to the chorus.

Yeah, I had the same reaction when one of the guys in my band suggested it.

This is really good, and almost totally listenable. There's just the slightest bit too much distortion. I followed the earlier conversation from your previous post about recording techniques. I think you're almost there with what you've got. You just need to identify what instrument is overloading your recording device, and move the "microphone" slightly away from it.

Otherwise you guys have a great sound, and the singers sound great. Really awesome and enjoyable!
