Down Through The Ages

February 9, 2010 9:23 PM

A cool and steady slow-burn about inescapable ancestry and genetic descension.

It's short because it's for RPM, and only a demo

"Time reaches eternally

down through the ages for me

roots of the family tree

take your leaf

leave with nothing

taking your place"

Thanks!

I like the double tracked vocals a lot, really adds to the slow burn. Lots of great imagery available for the metaphor you're onto. Looking forward to hearing the completed track!

Yeah, the doubled vox really gives this a specific feel. I really like the whole construction; the little dissonant note in the guitar lick where it sits on the A for a second before slipping up to more expected A# sells it for me.

Between the vox and the little bit of dissonance and mid-tempo roomy-drums jangle of the whole thing it feels like it could be a random track from mid-late 60s psychedelia. Back to back with The Pink Floyd Sound when Syd was still lucid, that sort of thing.

Yea, this is really great. While very short and sweet, there are many elements that grab hold tight. Good stuff, man, I really dig this!

Just have to come back to say that this is very very good. I understand that this may be a diminished or shortened version for RPM, but I find it to be just right. Totally expressive, artistic and poetic. Damn good job man.
