Hey Google, My Town's in the Lake

For the last two months, people trying to look up Randolph Vermont on Google Maps have been directed to a dot in the middle of Lake Champlain, 100 miles from the town's actual location. I've tried pretty much everything to get them to fix it [sad details]. Now I'm trying this.
It's a first draft, I'll try to make a more polished one later. Guitar track by the always awesome not_on_display and some of the lyrics by my mom, the rest by me.

Last summer it wasn’t I think.
My friends are confused.

Me of causing poor Randolph to sink.

The map shows us lakebound and yet
Some highways run through it
And trains choo-choo to it.
My neighbors are getting upset.

I can't give folks directions
I'm facing dejection
Hey Google my life is unreal.

That was excellent. A happy side to a very sad story of geographical incompetence. A bit shorter, but much better than, the semi-notorious '802 rap' about VT’s area code.
My favorite VT computer map story involves MapQuest, in the days before Google Maps existed — I asked it how to get from our house in Bar Harbor on the Maine coast to my brother's place in the very VT hamlet of Maple Corner.
First step, it said, go downtown and catch the CAT ferry for Nova Scotia. Then drive along the province's northern shore until you get to where you can turn back to the west.
It's long been fixed, but that trip, their way, turned out to be 800 or 900 miles, as opposed to the more usual 295.

Ha, I love the delivery.
A couple of years ago, driving back from Montreal, we stopped in Burlington for lunch and beer, and set the GPS for the drive home. I didn't look at the proposed route, and we just started driving.
It's pouring rain, and I don't know where I am, and I look over, trying to see which lane I should be in for the next turn, and instead of a turn arrow, it's an icon I don't recognize.
"What's the next turn," I ask. "Check the written directions, see what that icon means."
"I think it wants us to get on a ferry."
Thanks, Tom-Tom. You warn me about toll roads, but not about putting my car on a boat? So we pull into a gas station and re-route around the ferry, but at this point, Tom-Tom is just mad at us for not following its directions, and somehow routes us through some very serious Deliverance-type stuff. I'm still not sure how that happened.

My wife's multiple-great grandfather lived in Randolph until he famously loaded his family on an ox-cart and moved to Wisconsin. Maybe he saw this day coming.

I'm with Devils Rancher -- I like the jaunty energy of the "unpolished" performance a lot. And when just listening to the mp3, I very much enjoy the whistled solo, but I agree that your reactions in the video during said solo are brilliant and add a whole new Dimension O' Fun. Thanks for sharing both the mp3 (nice filename, BTW) and the video.

Ha! I was talking about this just the other day -- we were trying to find a restaurant and my wife had put faith in Google maps, but it wasn't in the spot where the google pin said it was. She was saying "Surely it's right here... Google maps says..." No, not so surely. At least we didn't drive into Lake Travis - it was just on the other side of the freeway, down about 1/4 of a mile.
