I was really inspired by the music of Dj Screw so I made a slow version of a previously faster song.

Slowing it down gave me a lot of space for experimenting with effects and rhythms.

Also: I had some ill breaks sitting around and I threw them in.

very cool indeed - love the brushy snare sound. the break @ 2.50ish is seriously good and is that some rhcp after it?

The new arrangement that begins at 2:55 is actually a sort of showy sampler-nerd aside, constructed from the opening beat of 23 Skidoo's "Coup" and the beginning of Crusader's "The Well's Gone Dry." (couldn't find it (again)) These songs were sampled for the Chemical Brothers' early hit "Block Rockin' Beats." and my song uses the Crusaders sample as it's melodic base. I played them is a super-straightforward way, the beginning of the two songs have been matched up and looped. You can do it yourself with audacity if you like it.

All the random drum loops I got from Phat Drum Loops.

(The bass in that one little part reminds me of the Beastie Boys' in 3's.)
