Lies

Another impromptu song.

This kind of tests out that kind of song that has phrasing dictate tempo and rhythmic structure. I'd assume that it's hard to pull off with more than one person going. But I enjoy it quite a bit, the fact that it reveals exactly how connected or disconnected voice and hands can be.

Wow. This is really great. The wave-like pattern of chords is nice, and I love the moment at 1:43 when you switch into 12/8 by truncating the space in between repetitions of the cycle. The Sam Prekop meets Michael Hedges part at the end is really pleasing as well. Terrific song all around. The independence between your voice and your guitar is impressive as well.

After listening to this like 10 times today, this song is still ridiculously awesome. I wrote this on my blog about it:

And the thing near the 2:10 on is just fucking awesome. I could see a heavy version of this really easily, but the fact that he achieves this with an acoustic guitar is great.

I like this. When there's words going on the guitar sounds like it's trying over and over to get something right, but when the words are gone things break free in a pretty way.
