The Proposal

Another uke tune. I really love the old novelty songs and this is my little contribution to that genre.

Lyrics:

Some say you are like the flu
And give yourself away
But they're just jealous joes
Turning up their nose

Others say that you're okay
And I'd have to agree
You're the tops with me
But I'd like you to see that...

Oh, you're a little bit crazy
On the outside you seem fine
But you're nutty as a pine

And oh, I've been a little bit lazy
Gotta get out of this gloom
And put you in a rubber room

And when I get you back from Dr. X
I know you'll be as good as new
That's when I'm gonna marry you!

That's a beautifully crafted melody. Definitely has that nice old feel to it. Great job!

And this may be the first actual use of the term "rubber room" in a song since Porter Wagoner!

Entertaining as ever! You have a knack for a catchy hook. Listening and reading you lyric I wondered - ever thought about covering one of Mose Allison's tunes and adapting for uke? I kind of intiutively feel you'd do a good job of something like "Your Mind Is On Vacation" or "Your Molecular Structure" or whatever. Just a thought, mightn't work.

You are up there with the best of the Ukulele music magicians.
