Nathan Fillion

So this afternoon on twitter, Nathan Fillion said: "I want my own theme song. Original. Short and long versions. Write music? Post it. Let's hear." Twist my arm.

Lyrics:

So you've got a job to do
Russlin' cows from Seti Alpha II
Or fighting slugs from outer space
Or punching Doogie in the face

Or desperate gynecology
Or trying to solve a mystery
Who could you hire? Who else but he?
Or him? The pronoun isn't important.

It's Nathan Fillion
He's a great big slice of
Gorram manly man

A vaudevillian
With a name that's hard to rhyme with
So it'll scan

O Nathan Fillion
We could watch him read the phone book
on the can

He's the man
He's Nathan Fillion

So, how does the long version go?

Priceless! I highly enjoyed that. Made me smile. Thanks! :)

I thought this would be a rap song because it takes a Nathan of Fillions to hold us back

A briefly considered aping Boston with "More Than A Fillion", but decided that was maybe not the way to go.

Freaking brilliant. Love it. And maybe Fillion will, like, join here? As a metafilter member? Which would be 100% rad.

Nice, and you were wise not to put too many verses in there. I like how "so it'll scan" scans awkwardly. Man, your speed on these sorts of projects is unstoppable.

A fine tune.

Also, now I know who Nathan Fillion is, vaguely.

You forgot Buffy. He was good on Buffy.

Granted, but it was a (macro-)cameo on the tail end of a long-running series that he otherwise wasn't involved in, and I'd already hit on the other Whedon projects, and I was trying to keep the lyrics to a bare minimum, and, so, yes.

He was indeed good on Buffy.

It wasn't a criticism. I'm sure he was in other projects that didn't make it.

I found it strange that I've seen everyone of the shows you cited except for the Doogie one. (But I know what it's referencing, and I plan to see it someday. I just haven't yet, ok?).

So did Fillion acknowledge the song yet?

Heh. He did not, but I imagine he is a fairly busy person and I don't really want to be The Guy Who Tries To Get You To Retweet Him, so, heh. A few valiant mefi twitters did gently poke him at the time, that was nice.
