Mathowie's Community Blog

September 3, 2006 10:40 PM

This song is called mathowie's community blog, and it's about mathowie, and the community blog, but mathowie's community blog is not the name of the community blog, that's just the name of the song. - lyrical brilliance by It's Raining Florence Henderson, with extra bits of artistic license taken in the studio. - Arlo-esque lead vocals by French Fry, aka my brother Alex.

37 seperate takes comprise the final lead vocal mixdown. I played that whole goddam 22 minute guitar part in one take, and just left the fuckups in.

Well, French Fry was the poor sumbitch who had to sing/say it, and listen to me yelling "cut" every two minutes. I just plied him with water and whiskey until he spit the whole thing out.

Sourwookie, whether or not cortex is a professional musician, and I think he is, there's professional musicians doing stuff like this, just as there are professional writers writing stuff for fun. You don't think you have the time. That's fine. Other people do.
posted by Ethereal Bligh at 9:22 AM on September 9, 2006

Hoof, ease up, EB. I don't think sourwookie meant anything negative, and there's nothing that odd about the notion of not having the time/energy/will to do something recreationally when you're already doing it as work. It's not a universal, of course, but it's more than plausible. It's all good.

(And I'm not a professional musician, in a meaningful sense—maybe once I make some money, though.)
