song for sawyer

another piece on 12-string acoustic.

i wrote this little thing shortly after my youngest son was born, so i kinda dedicated it to him.

Man, 12 strings sound so huge. This is sweet, parts really remind me of Nick Drake. Did you do anything unusual with the tuning (like tuning any of the pairs differently from each other)?

This would have sounded great on a six string! Awesome.

RE: the tuning, isn't it an open D or something similar?

yeah, the tuning is an open tuning, low-to-high CGCEGC. it may have drifted a little north or south at the time of recording. (the octave / pair strings are tuned straight, no funny stuff. i have messed around with that idea a little bit before, but didn't come up with anything i liked the sound of in the short time i attempted it.)
i've used some variation on this tuning since shortly after i first picked up guitar in my teens... started with DADF#AD and worked my way to this. it's been my main tuning all this time.
