Ode To An Invisible Orange

March 7, 2011 10:31 AM

Is this Metal? Inspired by this MeFi post about Metal and this MeFi post about Metal as a catalyst for world peace, I set out to write and record this instrumental over the weekend. Rough edges are OK in Metal, right? You should probably turn this up as loud as it will go.

This wouldn't be out of place on an early Tool album. I would say it is metal. Good job!

Agreed, it is very Tool-esque. Right at about 2:22, it hits some magic.

Thanks, guys. I was in a couple of Metal bands in high school a long time ago, but this is the first time I've ever tried to write a real Metal song, let alone play and produce the whole thing myself. My wife has been laughing at me more than usual because of it.

Reminds me a bit of a fast Sleep, if that makes any sense! Some of the fast parts and gallops near the end could use a little tightening up, but nice work overall.

Ha! I'm going to go ahead and blame the drummer.

Reminds me of The Sword, which is a good thing.
