Jazz Waltz

March 28, 2011 7:03 PM

A study based on a tutorial in Keyboard magazine.

Will try to hunt down the original article, but it was not recent. The point was playing wide chords and varying the position of the root - I wish I could say these voicings come naturally to me. Despite the chords, the title "Jazz Waltz" is misleading because there's no improvisation. Also, I don't usually layer voices, and the string pad is merely a simple way to flavor the sound.

E-mail me if you'd like a copy of the chart.

This is really great; I like a lot of the substitutions and the variation. The string pad is interesting, anyway, and adds a sort of Angelo Badalamenti vibe.

I'd love a copy of the chart if you wouldn't mind terribly; my email's in my profile.
