All The Small Things

I seem unable to cover songs (even those I hate) without making them sound completely earnest.

Oh man, it fits this style so well. I find myself wanting to lay some breathy harmonies and banjo on top of it, Iron & Wine the hell out of it.

I'm getting a big whiff of Sufjan Stevens' Casimir Pulaski Day. Which is a Good Thing. This is way better than the original.

Wow. Now THAT'S the way to take an ok song and really turn it into something! I don't know all the elements, or the terminology of them, required to create a great vocal, but whatever you're doing is absolutely right on.

it's interesting that when you strip all the pop bullshit away one often finds a real song under all of it, isn't it?

Thanks a lot, guys. =)
Cortex: I know what you mean. This does sound like a possible outake by Iron and Wine circa The Creek Drank the Cradle. Please do anything with the song that you wish; I would so spread some banjo all over this track if I had one and knew how to play it!

This is wonderful. The Creek Drank the Cradles meets Ben Gibbard's voice (as I think I've said before to you).

History will vindicate Blink-182.

History will vindicate Blink-182.

Or rather, far worse will be created and we will look back with fondness at a time when the worst pop radio could do was Blink 182.

I'd love to hear banjo on this. And maybe some ukelele or mandolin filling in the "na-na-na" parts in the last chorus.
