That Time

Mellow jazzish tune featuring mandolin, clean electric guitar, and a fake horn section.

The horn arrangement brought to mind Randy Newman, which is a good thing. This has that certain Americana vibe that's halfway between Newman and the soundtrack to Ken Burns' The Civil War and all that, which is very appealing.

The rhythm feel and chord structure and overall mood, however, don't really constitute "jazz" for me, however. I'm getting a much stronger "gospel" vibe here.

Nice piece of music, anyway, danb!

Yeah, you're probably right about that, flapjax. And thanks!

This definitely sounded like there is a little story behind it. I really enjoyed it. I'd love to hear a band play this.

Really nice guitar solo too.
