Millimeters of Mercury — Ice Age

October 4, 2012 1:01 PM

An as-of-yet instrumental, franctically-paced (187), electronic post-hardcore-influenced song. Without doubt the most balls-to-the-wall, overblown, overpowered, overdriven, bombastic production I've created. But it's still in that poppishly glossy, tightly-produced package anyone who has heard me knows. Any suggestions welcome as to how vocals should flow in it, and collaboration also welcome.

Nice one - good hook and it gets a pretty thorough workout in different guises throughout. There's an almost constant hiss of cymbal that I don't really like, or at least not quite as much as it's in there now... it really feels good to me when the drumming thins out some, and actually feels like it has more forward energy. This is actually really similar to a lot of European power metal, and works up a similar kind of excitement... but also a similar sort of homogeneity from the nonstop double kicks that actually tames and dulls it a little bit. That said, I love the tom break at 0:26; I was hoping for a reprise of that near the end, and I like the way that works out.
