Falling

working title, not sure about that just yet, I've been playing a lot in this modal C tuning (CGCGCD) and this tune came out over the past few days.

this might be a little too new age or pretty or something. nonetheless, it arrived in my brain and since I'm a bachelor for a few weeks I'm recording stuff!

I really liked this, good recording, muscular fingerpicking and a nice, not quite melancholy, almost Donovan-esque vibe. Good work!

This is lovely, and an ace recording. What microphone are you using on your guitar?

Incidentally I love this tuning too and use it a ton. Makes the guitar sound really meaty when you properly clang the low C too :)

Hey thanks greenish! Recorded sound is a mix of my Rode NT-1A (pointed at the 12th fret) and my K&K Pure Mini pickup through the Radial Engineering PZ-PRE preamp. Mic pre/audio interface is the MOTU Track 16 which is a great product. Sorry to get all gear-y!

. . . and btw holy smokes do I like it when people comment on my stuff, and I go back and listen to theirs and am blown away! (looking at you now greenish)

Hell's bells, never apologise for getting geary, I think most of us here are gear pervs to some degree or another :)

This is great. It has a nice John Fahey drone to it. I've been back on a fingerstyle kick lately, and this feeds it.

Ah that's cool to hear that feedback, umbu - I was definitely thinking of fahey when writing/recording this! glad it came through . . .

A lovely tune, great playing. It evoked some of Martin Simpson's pieces in C modal tuning.
