Twisting

Cover of Twisting by They Might Be Giants, for the MetaFilter Music Flood 25th anniversary tribute album.

The original is a pretty rocking song, so I stuck pretty close to the original arrangement, but, you know, made it a little different.

Nicely done. Makes me want to do the Swim in my living room.

Back when this was the last on the list to be selected, I wondered if I could somehow do it despite not being able to play any instruments. (I was maybe going to "produce" I guess.) So, before I chickened out, I listened to the song quite a few times and reminded myself how much I liked it 25 years ago.

I'm so glad I chickened out because I love this version so much!

This is one of my favorite songs on the album. Excellent update.

Nice! I like that very thin-sounding synth at the beginning. Really cool and bouncy. :)

Yeah! And the synth also goes awesomely with valrus's chiptune-styled We Want A Rock, which by happy coincidence is the next song on the album.

My five year old came up and started nagging me about something - and then the song started and she stopped talking, and started dancing! Thanks :)

I LOVE THIS VERSION. The original is so stylised already, I wasn't sure what kind of take the cover would have. I think this is perfect - yes, similar to the original, but still fresh.
