MetaFilter Telephone Answering Machine Outgoing Messages

Challenge idea: Answering machine messages, like Radio Shack's!

Apparently, Radio Shack used to sell a cassette full of songs that people could use as their answering machine messages. Because answering machines were new at that point, many of these were quite wordy and explained the answering machines process. Check the songs out. They are jingle gold.

Is anyone interested in doing these as a MeFi Music Challenge? Because I would be excited about hearing MeFites' message songs.

This is a great idea. For the record something close to this idea has been tackled before (http://music.metafilter.com/home/challenges/28), but in principle there's no reason not to do it again.

I had no idea Carl Kassel retired so long ago! But yeah, I think it's been long enough that a revisiting can yield very different stuff.
