First Guess

This is an organically assembled doodle recorded to test a Ubuntu Studio laptop conversion.

It could use a (fretless?) bass track and maybe one other sparsely placed element. But my first guess was to leave it like this at least for now.

Credit to freesound.org for the drum loop. HG Fortune's Fortune Cookie plugin for pad and Ubuntu Studio native piano sample for the keys.

Smoooooth. Tasty and warm. Lovely curls and sweeps. Small groups of swallows swooping and swerving in the dusklight.

I think it sounds nice the way it is now, even without any other instruments. The fact that there's some space before and after the drum loop also makes it more interesting. I can imagine it being used as incidental music for a movie.

Out of curiosity, which DAW/sequencer did you use?

FYI, in case you're interested in sharing more about using Linux in general - puckupdate has a long-running blog where he interviews people about their Linux setups, and is looking for interviewees (recent post on Projects). He's also posted about recording on Linux, too.
